In this month's blog, we would like to take the opportunity to talk about some of the recent community work we have been getting involved with here at Painters and Decorators London.
We recently spent the day up at Nottingham for the Armstead Allies Project, which is an initiative aimed at combining voluntary work with DIY skills, in order to help local youths get into the trades. The goal of the project was to renovate a local community building in need of refurbishment and when Painters and Decorators London were given the opportunity to take part in this year's event, we couldn't help but jump at the chance. The visions of the project stood out to us, as our ethos is to always give back to the communities we serve in a positive way.
The day was a great opportunity for youths that have become disengaged with the education system to gain work experience on a live project. We spent our time mentoring the youths on basic painting and decorating techniques to help them off to a great start on potential future careers in the trade. During the day, it was great to see the confidence and motivation of the volunteers grow and by the end, many were asking the right questions to kick start their careers in a positive direction. We always seek to develop apprentices and trainees through our employee development programme and we hope that our work on the day has been enough to inspire at least one star Painter and Decorator of the future!
You can hear more about the amazing work carried out by the Armstead Allies Project and also see Painters and Decorators in London in action in the video above.
